1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be handled when you use Wormio, why it is used, where it is stored, and how you can manage or delete it. In this policy, “we” means the developer of Wormio, Jac Bergson.
2. Data we handle
The app may handle the following categories of information:
- Game progress
- The highest level you reached, stars per level, your stock of undo, hint and extra-slot boosters, your XP balance, the time of your last wheel spins, the date of your daily puzzle, your play streak, best streak, last play day and streak shields.
- App preferences
- Sound, haptics, whether reminders are on, and whether you removed ads. These stay on your device.
- iCloud status
- Whether iCloud is available and a local timestamp for the most recent successful backup. The app does not receive your Apple Account password.
- Purchase status
- StoreKit product and verified entitlement information used to determine whether the “Remove ads” purchase is active and to deliver the XP and booster packs you buy. Apple processes the payment.
- Advertising data
- When ads are shown and permitted, Unity LevelPlay, Unity Ads and the advertising networks connected to them may process your IP address, approximate location inferred from the IP address, device identifiers (including the advertising identifier if you allow tracking), ad views, ad interactions, app interactions, diagnostics and performance information.
- Support correspondence
- Your email address and anything you choose to include when you contact support. Please do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary personal information.
We do not ask for your name, date of birth, address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
3. Storage on your device and in iCloud
Local storage
Wormio stores your game progress and preferences on your device so you can continue where you stopped.
iCloud backup (CloudKit)
If you are signed in to iCloud and automatic sync is on (you can turn it off), Wormio uses Apple CloudKit to back up your game progress to the app’s private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. This lets you restore your progress on a new device. Only the progress listed under “Game progress” is backed up. Preferences such as sound and haptics stay on the device.
Private CloudKit data can only be read by you through your own Apple Account. We cannot read it, and we do not receive your Apple Account email address or password. Apple handles iCloud under its own privacy terms and security controls.
4. Reminders (notifications)
Wormio can show up to three friendly reminders per day to keep your streak going. Wormio asks for permission after your first game, and you can say no. The reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device by iOS. They do not use a push server, and no push token or other data about them is sent to us or to anyone else.
You can switch reminders off at any time in Settings → Reminders in Wormio, or in the iOS Settings app under Notifications → Wormio.
5. Advertising and consent
The free version uses Unity LevelPlay, an advertising mediation service of Unity Technologies, to show interstitial advertisements between some levels and rewarded video advertisements when you choose to watch one, for example to earn hearts back, an undo, a hint, an extra bank slot, or to rescue a streak. LevelPlay requests ads from the advertising networks connected to it, including Unity Ads. Ads are never required to play. The “Remove ads” purchase removes the ads between levels; videos that you choose to watch for a bonus remain optional and available.
Depending on your region and privacy choices, Unity, these advertising networks and their partners may process information such as device information, advertising identifiers, approximate location derived from an IP address, ad interactions, diagnostics and performance information to deliver, measure and protect advertising, and for fraud prevention.
The Google User Messaging Platform checks consent requirements when the app launches. Where required, it presents privacy choices before ad requests are made, and the resulting choice is passed on to LevelPlay. The app only requests ads when the consent status indicates that ad requests are allowed.
When an in-app privacy-options entry point is required, you can reopen it from Settings → About → Privacy choices in Wormio.
6. App Tracking Transparency
Wormio presents Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission request after any required regional advertising consent choices have been completed. Tracking across other companies’ apps and websites is only permitted when you explicitly allow it through Apple’s system prompt.
If you allow tracking, Unity and the connected advertising networks may access the advertising identifier (IDFA) for personalized advertising, advertising measurement and related purposes. If you deny permission, the app does not authorize access to the IDFA. The advertising servers used by Unity Ads are declared as tracking domains, so iOS may block the connection to them and advertisements, including optional bonus videos, may then be unavailable. Denying tracking permission never restricts access to Wormio or its gameplay.
You can review or change this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
7. Purchases
“Remove ads” is an optional one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple handles your payment method, billing information, purchase history and refunds. Wormio receives only the product information and verified entitlement status needed to remove the ads. We do not receive or store your full payment-card or banking details.
Wormio also offers optional consumable in-app purchases: packs of XP and packs of boosters (undo, hint and extra slot). These are processed by Apple in the same way. After a purchase, the XP or boosters are added to the progress stored on your device (and in your own iCloud backup, if you turned that on). No additional personal data is collected for this.
8. Analytics and diagnostics
Wormio does not include Firebase Analytics, a developer-operated analytics platform or a separate developer-operated crash-reporting service. Apple may provide aggregated crash and diagnostic information when you choose to share analytics with developers through your device settings. Advertising SDKs may process crash logs and performance data as described above.
9. This website
This website is hosted on Firebase Hosting. It does not use advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms or developer-set cookies. Firebase Hosting and network providers may process basic request information, such as IP address, browser information, requested URL and timestamps, to securely deliver the site, prevent abuse and maintain service reliability.
If you contact support by email, your email provider and our email provider process the message under their respective privacy terms.
10. Children
Wormio is a general-audience puzzle game and is not specifically directed to children under 13. The app does not ask for a date of birth, postal address, telephone number or account registration. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information through a support email may contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
If Wormio is ever offered in Apple’s Kids Category, the app’s advertising, links and data practices will be reviewed and adjusted to meet the stricter Kids Category requirements before release.
11. Retention and deletion
- Local app data remains until you delete the app and its data from the device.
- iCloud backup remains in your private CloudKit database until you delete it using the app or remove it through Apple’s iCloud controls.
- Purchase records are retained by Apple according to Apple’s legal and accounting obligations.
- Advertising and consent data is retained by Unity, the connected advertising networks and Google (consent management) according to your choices, their policies and applicable law.
- Support emails are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain a record of the resolution and meet legal obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
Delete your iCloud backup
- Open Settings in Wormio.
- Open the iCloud section.
- Choose Delete iCloud data and confirm.
This removes the backup of your progress from your private iCloud and turns off automatic sync. The progress on this device is kept, so you can continue playing.
Delete all local app data
You can remove the app and its local data through iOS/iPadOS Settings → General → iPhone/iPad Storage → Wormio → Delete App. “Offload App” may keep your data and is not the same as deletion.
12. Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent.
- Change available advertising consent choices through Settings → About → Privacy choices in the app.
- Turn reminders and automatic iCloud sync on or off in the app’s Settings.
- Manage Apple privacy, iCloud, tracking, notification and analytics choices in your device settings.
- Delete your iCloud backup or all local app data using the steps above.
- Contact us about support correspondence or another privacy request.
Because private CloudKit records are tied to your Apple Account and Wormio has no separate user account, the in-app deletion control is the safest way to delete your backup. Never send us your Apple Account password.
13. Service providers and data protection
Wormio relies on the following providers:
- Apple: App Store, StoreKit, iCloud and CloudKit.
- Unity Technologies: Unity LevelPlay and Unity Ads (advertising mediation and advertising).
- Google: User Messaging Platform (consent) and Firebase Hosting for this website.
- Proton: email delivery when you contact the support address.
These providers process data under their own privacy terms. Data may be processed in countries other than your own, using safeguards required by applicable law.
14. Security
We use the security features provided by iOS, iPadOS, CloudKit, StoreKit and HTTPS hosting. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Keep your device, Apple Account and operating system protected and up to date.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app, service providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated. Material changes will be communicated in the app or on this website when appropriate.
